EcoAdvantage Power | Northern California's Solar and Wind Power Specialist

We power your home or business with clean Nuclear Power, but we keep the reactor a safe 93,000,000 miles from your home.
wind turbines

Why wind??   If you live with a mean wind speed of 4.6m/s or about 10mph, you will get about two to three times the power from a wind turbne than from the same amount of money invested in solar panels.

EcoBreeze turbine systems are IC certified.  We use only UL approved  inverters, Our systems are approved with the California Energy Commission for rebates.  All turbines carry a 5 year warranty.

Ecobreeze turbines use a newly engineered, custom designed controller, which eliminates problems associated with similar units being sold on the market.  Our towers are designed by a California Professional Engineer.

Ecobreeze turbines are available from 300 watts to 25,000 watts and are well suited  for rural residential, commercial,  and agricultural applications.   Our 10kw and 20kw units fill a niche between the small residential and large commercial turbines currently available.  We have very experienced installers for every size installation.

Larger commercial or Agricultural projects utilize turbines from Northwind, Norwind and other proven makes     They are perfectly suited for commercial businesses such as car dealers, production facilities, and farm operations.

What do they cost??  Each installation is designed specifically for the customer, however, the installed cost after rebates  make them VERY affordable.  Govt. rebates can pay for more than 80% of the total cost.  Payback can be as little as 3 years.

With a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)  large systems can be  installed and working on your site with near zero money invested, yet a reduction in your utility bills and eventual ownership of the system.

Rebates:  Logistics of the CEC rebate system will cause you will loose 15% of the rebate (as much as $6000 per 20kw unit) if you do an owner installation.  This is a situation where it is best to have the whole package done by the professionals at EcoAdvantage.   You can purchase the units from EcoAdvantage and have your own contractor install them for you.

Our expert installs are turn key, from site design engineering of foundations to application and processing of  building permits, rebate applications, power generation agreements with PG&E,  to final inspection and connection of the turbine to the power grid.

Our installers are licensed in over 35 states, and have many years of experience in wind turbine installations.

From the wind map link, you can estimate your mean wind speed.

Use the Weibull Calculator and figure your power production.  http://www.reuk.co.uk/Calculate-kWh-Generated-by-Wind-Turbine.htm

Note:  The Weibull calculator and the chart are based on MEAN speeds.  This is the speed most common to an area, and does not specifically consider what you get during  very windy days or storms.

For example:   During a storm where it blows 22 to 38 mph, the 20kw unit will make about $100. per day in electricity.  If you are on a tiered rate plan, and paying up to 38 cents per kwh, your production during a windy month,  in terms of dollars, will be closer to $200/day credited to your account.

Having a complete energy analysis done by an EcoAdvantage representative will demonstrate how you can get paid up to 55 cents per kwh by PG&E yet pay as little as 9 cents for power delivered from them to you.

EcoBreeze 25KW WIND TURBINE ON-GRID SYSTEM

TheEcoBreeze 25kw turbine is a beautiful machine that produces little noise and has many safety features. The turbine uses a direct drive permanent magnet generator. It can start up in as little as 3 meters per second, 6 mph. 25 kilowatts of power will be produced at 11 m/s or 24.6 mph. The overloading capacity (dump resistance) is 2 times the rated power, with double over speed protection.

With a life span of 20+ years the EcoBreeze 20kw needs no special maintenance.

EcoBreeze 20kw Wind Turbine Safety Features

The design of the blades and hub allows the turbine to survive a wind speed of 50 m/s or 112 mph. This is 2-3 times the rated wind speed. The tower and foundation were designed by a California registered Professional Engineer.

When wind becomes strong and nears overload, the turbine will regulate speed and output automatically by yawing; when the yaw angle reaches 60 degrees the wind turbine tail will push on the hydraulic brake system and stop the turbine. At overload, an electric winch will start automatically to fold the tail (yaw the turbine) and begin the hydraulic braking system. This can also be done by “hand winching” the turbine at the base of the tower. One may shut down or lock the turbine at any time, for storms, vacations, and maintenance. Manual controls for such are on the controller panel as well as the hand winch.

Following is the “overload procedure” of the EB 20kw: The controlling system (the controller) detects the output power of the wind turbine at real time, and controls the output power. When the output power reaches P>20kw , the controller will detect the power and give the order to the DC winch to run for 15 seconds, furling the tail about .4 meter or 1’4”. This furling will place the turbine out of the direct wind and slow the generator.

If the output is still over 20kw, the controller will repeat the previous action. When the output is under 20kw it will stop the furling. When the generator output is over 22kw the controller will open the resistance dump. After 15 minutes, the turbine will adjust itself and start up again.

When there is an extreme wind condition the turbine will go into full furling and employ the hydraulic brake system. The wind turbine will be in “gale protection”. The wind turbine has to be manually unlocked after the high wind subsides. This is not a frequent action, and is easily done at the controller box. In normal conditions the turbine will regulate itself with the first actions.

Unique to the EcoBreeze is the DC emergency motor, which, with a simple back up battery, will safely shut down the turbine during a storm with grid power failure. (Grid power failure usually happen during storms) Other turbines that don't have this very important safety device burn up, and may burn up the dwelling, the dump loader, and controller  as well.. The EB has double protection with the ability to manually shut downn (hand winch in base of tower) even if the back up battery is dead. Other turbines lack this safety device as well. We have seen a few of them- burned up!!!!

The maximum output can reach 1.3 – 1.5 times the rated power, thus there is great protection for coil overload. The generator can withstand more than 2500v. EB turbines use sealed, Japanese NSK or American bearings . Being a gear less turbine (no transmission), little maintenance is needed. The turbine will operate for over 30,000 hours without maintenance. Only annual inspections of the casing and blades are required. Troublesome yaw motors for direction changes are not used in EcoBreeze turbines, with the tail (trouble free) doing the job.

The EB towers have a ladder and working platform, which is unique to the EcoBreeze turbines. Having the rotor blades father from the tower allows for this time and money saving feature. For safety, the ladder begins at 15 feet.

EB turbines use slip rings to eliminate cable twist due to yawing to many times in one direction.
